This project will provide latrines for a small community
in Northwest Dominican Republic called Belloso. Many of the homes and the school have inadequate, if any, latrines posing
a serious risk to the health of the community - especially the young and the elderly. The community has had issues with
intestinal parasites, diarrhea, typhoid, and conjunctivitis as a result. The funds will provide materials to construct
the latrines. The community will be required to attend a course in hygiene, sanitation, latrine construction and maintenance.
After the training, the community members will construct the latrines. The school and approximately 15 families, with
the greatest need, will receive a latrine.
