AARPCV has partnered with the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University to co-sponsor a Habitat
for Humanity II renovation project in South Atlanta. Summer fundraising helped us reach our sponsorship goal. AARPCV and RSPH
contributed a total of $5,000, which was matched by a Habitat for Humanity Board member to bring the grand total to $10,000
to cover the costs of this home renovation.
We have worked side by side with the homeowner to ready a new home
for her family. Volunteer workdays took place on three Saturdays: August 20 and 27, 2011 and September 10, 2011 where
volunteers diligently painted the exterior and interior of the house; hung cabinets, shelves, doors; and made countless
repairs, among other projects.
The final workday was also held in conjunction with the National
Day of Service and Rememberance to honor the sacrifice of those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001.
