The dinner will be served in the lobby of the Landmark Midtown Cinema at 931 Monroe Drive and features dishes from Kenya and Tanzania. The movie is a joint production between Nigeria and Cameroon called Before the Sunrise.

AARPCV will meet at 5:30pm for dinner. The movie starts at 6:30pm. Check the web site for a description of the movie.

AARPCV Potluck Dinner

Please join us for our first AARPCV Potluck dinner of 2007 at Tara O'Day's home in Decatur. Fellow AARPCV Carlos Gonzalez will talk about his travels and service with Global Aware in Cusco, Peru. We'll also give you an update about the events and programs planned for this year. Plus, enjoy socializing and eating delicious food with fellow AARPCVs. A great speaker and good food – what more can you ask for?

From 285 (S) take Memorial Drive, Exit 41- it is an automatic right turn off exit.  Stay on Memorial for 3 miles and turn Right on Oldfield Road.

From downtown Decatur, take Commerce Drive until it merges with S. Columbia (0.7 mile).  After the Columbia Theological Seminary, make a right on Kirk Road.  Make first left onto Oldfield Road.

ARPCV WINE TASTING FUNDRAISER

Back by popular demand, get ready for good times and great wine at the 2nd AARPCV Wine Tasting Fundraiser.  Once again, Level Two Sommelier Ryan Mullins will grace us with educational and entertaining insights into the wonderful (and tasty) world of wine.  Going along with the our next quarter's environmental theme, Ryan will be featuring 5-6 organic and "eco-friendly" wines for all to sample.  As with our last wine tasting, this event will surely be enjoyed by all who attend, and all proceeds will go towards funding local and international AARPCV sponsered projects. Cost is only $30. Light appetizers, courtesy of WholeFoods Market, will be served. Space is limited, so please RSVP soon!

Each year thousands of patients in the economically developing world cannot receive medical aid because no resources exist.

While many suffer from lack of healthcare, U.S. hospitals discard hundreds of millions of dollars worth of medical supplies they can no longer use.

There has to be a way to build a bridge between that need and this surplus.

The bridge is MedShare International.

WHAT:  Tasks include sorting and packing medical supplies for shipment overseas.  10-12 volunteers are needed for this project.  Families are welcome (youth ages 13+).

WHAT TO BRING:  All supplies will be provided.  Please wear closed-toed shoes.

Members and their guests are invited to enjoy a wide variety of social and service activities with AARPCV including:

Potluck Dinner Meetings
Potluck dinners are held every quarter on Saturday evenings. These dinners will be a time to gather socially as well as learn about local, national and international topics of interest to the group. Potlucks will be hosted by AARPCV members on a rotating schedule. Please contact Warren Passin or Amalia Stephens if you are able to host an upcoming potluck or have an idea for a program.

Adventures in Eating
Join Adventures in Eating and fellow food aficionados as they experience a different ethnic restaurant each month. Dinners are the 2nd Thursdays of the month in the evening. Please contact Harriet Kuhr if you want to be included in her email list for upcoming dinner announcements. RSVPs are usually required in advance.

Service Projects
The Domestic Service Committee is actively plans Saturday Volunteer Projects for RPCVs, friends, and family in the Atlanta area. Please mark your calendars to volunteer one Saturday each month! The committee welcomes your suggestions for service projects and organizations that need our assistance. Please contact Kelly West or Mark Allen if you would like to serve on the committee, recommend a service project or organization, or plan a project.

Social Outings
AARPCV holds a social event every month. Activities include happy hours, hiking day trips, a Wine & Cheese social, a Braves game, pool parties, and more. Please contact Julia MacGregor if you are interested in planning a social outing for the group.
